TCS is among the Top 2% of IT Services Companies Surveyed for CSR, and Top 1% for Environmental Initiatives

LONDON | MUMBAI, December 12, 2018 ? Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, has been awarded the Gold rating in the EcoVadis 2018 CSR Assessment. The company?s initiatives in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) received the Gold rating for the fifth consecutive year.

In the 2018 EcoVadis rating and scorecard, TCS outperformed its peers across all four key areas of measurement: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, scoring in the top 2% of all IT companies surveyed. In environment, TCS scored in the top 1% of the IT companies surveyed.

?We are proud of our long-term commitment to corporate social responsibility. Whether it?s reducing our specific carbon footprint by over 50% in the last 10 years, sponsoring wellness initiatives for employees and in communities, bridging the digital divide with our STEM education initiatives, or spreading adult literacy, we are investing significant time and resources in running a responsible business,? said Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice President and Head, Global Human Resources, TCS. ?We are honoured to receive this recognition by EcoVadis yet again. This assessment is a testament to our efforts to give back to the wider community.?

?EcoVadis? CSR assessment methodology looks at 21 sustainability criteria across four themes,? said David McClintock, Marketing Director, EcoVadis. ?Receiving our Gold recognition for just one year is an achievement: TCS? five-year streak of recognition is a remarkable demonstration of their commitment and status as an industry leader when it comes to CSR.?

TCS has had a tradition of enabling social good, through structured CSR programmes and volunteering in the areas of education and skilling, health and wellness, and environment. TCS is working towards reducing the inequities caused by the digital skill divide in many parts of the world, and towards building future generations of digitally savvy individuals. Its flagship programs in North America, UK, and Europe, focus on encouraging school students to pursue higher education and careers in STEM areas.

Other programs, particularly in India, target improving functional literacy, and boosting employability and entrepreneurial skills of women and minorities who are underrepresented in the workforce. In addition, TCS encourages its employees to invest time in volunteering efforts. In FY 2018, TCSers volunteered over 570,000 hours for worthy social and environmental causes in their respective communities.

TCS? values-driven culture and the high levels of trust engendered with key stakeholder groups have resulted in several other high profile recognitions from the different constituencies this year, which marks the completion of 50 years since the company was founded. TCS was named America?s Most Community-Minded Information Technology Company in the 2018 Civic 50 by Points of Light, and also awarded the Social Responsibility Award at the North American Employee Engagement Awards for the third year in a row. In the 2018 All-Asia Executive Team survey published by Institutional Investor, TCS was ranked by Asian investors at first place for Best Corporate Governance and in several other categories among all listed companies in the IT Services & Software sector across the region. TCS is also part of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, MSCI Global Sustainability Index, and the FTSE4Good Emerging Index.
