Sovereign Home Improvements Is Now Installing Guardian Warm Roof In Essex

Many people associate Sovereign Home Improvements with double glazing in Essex and it is true that the company does indeed carry out a lot of double glazing installations.

However, Sovereign Home Improvements carries out a huge number of other projects: indeed, the clue is in the name ? home improvements - of all types including conservatories, orangeries, new kitchens, roofline work ? you name it.

As of September 2018, Sovereign Home Improvements is proud to have been appointed as a distributor for Guardian Warm Roofs. This is a major step forward in home improvements and there are compelling reasons to replace your conservatory roof with Guardian Warm Roof. One of the things that the company hears all the time, is people who are complaining that their conservatory is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, and this is very often the case with conservatories constructed 20 or more years ago.

If you already have a conservatory you will know only too well how the outside temperature and weather conditions can affect the comfort and convenience of using it. Fitting a Guardian Warm Roof is the ideal solution for a replacement conservatory roof and is obviously recommended for new installations.

It is a solid roof that will help to maintain a consistent temperature year-round, and your conservatory will be quiet and comfortable all the time. At last your conservatory can be fully integrated into your ground floor living area, giving you the extra space that you have always wanted. Your new Guardian Warm Roof can be installed by the Sovereign Home Improvements team in just two to three days in most cases.

Sovereign Home Improvements can also install one of several different types of glass for your new conservatory or for as a replacement for your existing double glazing. Most people think that glass is just glass, but there are several different types, and it is important to know what they can do.

The basic double glazing glass is annealed or float glass. It is quite strong and difficult to break, especially when used in double glazed windows, but when it does break it breaks into shards which are dangerous and can easily cause injury. Float glass is however, the cheapest option.

Tempered or toughened glass is three to four times stronger than float glass and if it does get broken it breaks into tiny crystals rather than shards. Therefore, it is far less dangerous than float glass. It is toughened by heating it to a high temperature, around 700?C, and then blasting it on both sides with cold air. This causes the outer layers of the glass to cool far more rapidly than the core and they contract and solidify, giving the glass much greater strength. Of course, it is more expensive than float glass.

Another type of glass is laminated glass which is where two (or more) sheets of glass are fused together with polyvinyl butyl laminate (PVB). If the glass should ever break it remains fused to the laminate so there are no broken pieces or shards.

Noise reduction glass is ideal if you live next to a motorway or airport. This is made with acoustic layers of PVB which absorb sound even more than ordinary double glazing which reduces sound by around 75% compared with single glazing.

Then there is self-cleaning glass. First the glass is coated with a layer of titanium dioxide on the outside which helps to break down dirt. When solar radiation strikes the surface, it reacts with moisture to form hydroxyl radicals which takes large particles of dirt and breaks them down. Secondly, the glass receives a hydrophilic treatment which causes rain droplets to stick and spread and it simply washes off the broken-down dirt.

You can also get fire protection glass which can withstand very high temperatures. Fire protection glass can withstand the heat of a fire for around half an hour. But you can purchase glass that withstands it for much longer, and up to three hours!

In addition, you can get bullet resistant (not sure why you would need this in Essex!) and explosion resistant glass. This type of glass is heat treated and laminated as well. There is also anti-vandalism glass which is useful if you live in an area of high risk.
