SCU Welcomes Newly-Appointed Chair, 3 New Members to Board of Regents

The Southern California University of Health Sciences recently welcomed four new faces into various positions on its Board of Regents.

Appointed as chair, Dr. Thomas S. Bakman – and experienced chiropractor who has been practicing since 1988 – is well-suited to the position of leadership for the board. With experience in athleticism since the age of thirteen and a passion for multidisciplinary, alternative, and holistic medical practices, Dr. Bakman is excited to use this new position to help others reach their own wellness goals.

Also welcomed into the fold were three new members, Susan Haeger, Ruth Westreich, and Mikal Belicove. Each new member brings a unique perspective and experience to their position with the Board of Regents.

Belicove is an author, content creator, and brand architect. His extensive understanding of marketing and experience with formats such as social media are destined to help the university expand and improve its offerings in years to come.

Haeger is the president and founder of THSG, the Transformative Health Solutions Group. This organization provides health care companies and professionals with consulting services and advocacy development. Her primary field of experience for the last twenty years has been that of leadership in progressive health and wellness organizations, making her a perfect fit for helping the university continue to reach more students and create a more positive experience for everyone on campus and beyond.

As president of the Westreich Foundation, Ruth Westreich boasts a long list of areas of expertise, including all types of natural and holistic care strategies and additions to existing treatment plans such as creative arts as a method of therapy. She was a recent commencement speaker at an SCU graduation ceremony, at which she was honored with a doctorate in humanities.

These newly-minted board members are all looking forward to what they can do on a personal and professional level to further improve the school's already sterling reputation. To quote new member Mikal Belicove, "The future of healthcare won’t be determined by hospital administrators, insurance executives, or by the myriad of professionals already working in the field. Rather, the future of healthcare will be determined by how we choose to educate the next generation of healthcare professionals." And that's exactly what the Board of Regents and all of the staff and supporters of Souther California University of Health Sciences are looking to do.
