Paintpots Nurseries is excited about the opportunities for its’ children at its’ child day care in Manchester premises situated in the Oxford Road Corridor. The nursery is right opposite the Circle Square development on the old BBC site in the city centre, which is just yards away.

Co-founder Andrew Howarth said: “When it is completed, Circle Square will have 250,000 square feet of lawns, parks, and river walks right on our doorstep, and the opportunities for our children to learn and play outside are fantastic.”

There are now four nurseries in the Paintpots Group, and the Manchester one was the first opened by Howarth and partner Nichola Moss in 2006. The whole building in which the nursery is situated was recently renovated, and the company took the opportunity to completely re-vamp the nursery and the services provided at the same time. Paintpots is the premier provider of childcare in and around the city centre and is close to the Universities, so is ideally situated for any parents working there and elsewhere in the centre. Furthermore, the nursery lies only 200 metres from all the major bus routes, and just 300 metres from Oxford Road train station.

Paintpots has a high ratio of staff to children and the carers have a responsive approach to the individual needs of each child. The nursery provides friendly, comfortable, and safe surroundings, in which the children can learn and develop. Howarth and Moss are both busy parents themselves and were very much aware of the problems faced by parents seeking childcare when they opened the nursery. Moss said: “We wanted to create a truly caring environment for young children - one where care means personal attention, a desire to nurture, and ensuring the child’s well-being.”

It certainly seems that the first Paintpots Nursery has been a resounding success, because Howarth and Moss have gone on to open another three nurseries in order to provide further day care near Manchester. The first of these was The Old School House in Hartford, serving the communities of North Cheshire. This was opened in February 2010, and there is a very low turnover of carers here which means good continuity for each child as he or she develops.

The nursery is conveniently situated close to the railway station and serves the needs of many parents in the vicinity of Northwich and Winsford. There is a large car park situated off Old Vicarage Lane which provides parents with a simple and safe way to visit the nursery.

In the wonderful old building there are five separate classes and the child will transition as they learn and grow. There is also a large outdoor play area with both a hard play and soft play area, and a climbing frame. In addition, there are beds where the children are shown how to grow fruit and vegetables, together with a greenhouse.

Paintpots Nurseries are very much concerned with healthy eating and staff continually evaluate and develop the menus. Different dishes are offered each day over a four week cycle which encourages children to experiment and to accept a variety of tastes and textures. All food is prepared on site by a qualified cook and children are always offered fresh fruits and vegetables in season. Drinks are available throughout the day, as are snacks, while any child with special dietary requirements is provided with suitable alternatives.

Security, of course, is vital. All nurseries have an intercom system for entry, and once inside there are secure coded doors to each room. There is also a password system so that if a parent needs a relative or friend to collect their child that individual must have the password. Visitors are supervised at all times and required to show ID.

In the autumn of 2013 a third nursery was opened in Newall Green, Wythenshawe to cater for parents in that area, and in the following spring a fourth nursery was opened in Sale Road.

Moss said: “All children respond positively to engagement, participation and enthusiasm. It‘s just great that we can offer that approach to parents in an increasing number of locations across the region.”
