June 18, 2018, an interview with Peterson Smith, senior scientist of R&D from Creative Biolabs, reveals views of a majority of modern biotech company on the protein drugs which play a very crucial role in protein clinical researches and promoting the development of protein/antibody market.
It is well known that protein engineering is making great influence in modern scientific development and research fields, including genetic engineering techniques, biologics, biosensors, environmental applications, industrial applications, synthetic biology applications, and nanotechnology.
“Depending on a statistic in 2014, the antibodies accounted for a huge market share of about USD 30 billion, although it was in a development phase at that time. Additionally, Dr. Peterson analyzed trends influencing growth prospects of the antibodies engineering market.
Phage display techniques and genetic engineering techniques have been incorporated to produce engineered antibodies, which are attributed to immunoprotective qualities for improving drug development. And at the same time, it can overcome the shortcomings of hybridoma technology. With the development of these techniques, researchers will be benefiting in the immunology biotechnology. For instance, diseases like diabetes and obesity have increased the demands for protein drugs, which also impact the antibody engineering market. So it is promising in the healthcare industry to influence the market further over the coming years.
Peterson added: “That will be a bright future both for researchers and biotech company. ”
