Perth, WA, Australia - The Perth Brain Centre, established in Attadale, Perth, in 2007 as a private multidisciplinary clinic, is delighted to announce the opening of a second clinic. The new premises are conveniently located on Delamere Avenue in the northern Perth suburb of Currambine.

Clinical Director, Daniel Lane, said that he and his dedicated team - that includes (among others), Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Neuroscience and HeartMath Intervention Clinicians - have taken the decision to expand the Practice in response to growing demand from patients living and working in the northern suburbs of Perth.

With the opening of the new Currambine clinic, they now have the capability and the facilities to offer a full range of services to more people and to help them with a wide range of health problems, particularly those related to the way the brain and nervous system work.

The Perth Brain Centre focuses on the diagnosis of brain-based disorders and the use of non-invasive, drug-free treatments including Neurofeedback and Trans-Cranial Direct Current Stimulation treatment to activate Neuroplasticity, and HeartMath, heart rate variability training to help in managing the body's response to stress.

What is Neuroplasticity?

Neuroplasticity is the term describing the brain's amazing ability to reorganize itself and to form new neural connections throughout life. The understanding of this life-long ability of the brain to compensate for the damage caused by injury or disease that allows the restoration of lost function, has enabled the development of a range of brain-based treatments that can improve the quality of life for patients suffering from a wide range of conditions.

What are Brain-Based Treatments?

The Brain-Based treatments available at the Perth Brain Centre are attractive to patients, not only for their effectiveness, but also because they are both drug-free and non-invasive. They use the brain's own neuroplastic capabilities to strengthen and retrain the brain with a range of activities involving repetition and increasingly challenging tasks.

The clinic focuses on providing Neurofeedback Therapy, a treatment that helps people train their own brainwaves, which is proven to be an effective treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Trans-Cranial Direct Current Stimulation, an exciting new therapy that is proven to relieve depression and neuropathic (brain-based) chronic pain.

What is Heart Rate Variability Training?

Heart Rate Variability Training (HRV) uses HeartMath HR Biofeedback to provide a simple and effective way for patients to gain control over their responses to stress. The technique is easy to learn and after a few, short, guided sessions at Perth Brain Centre using a small heart rate sensor that attaches either to an earlobe of a fingertips, patients can consolidate what they have learned by practicing the technique regularly at home. These same techniques are used by the military to help soldiers before and after deployment.
