15 contestants from the U.S., England and United Kingdom compete for Best Sinatra Singer, Hoboken NJ, hometown of?Frank Sinatra

HOUSTON, June 12, 2017?- Houston-area resident, Rickey Davis, a medical industry professional who recently sang at Super Bowl Live 2017 in Houston, was selected to compete in the 11th Annual Sinatra Idol Contest.

Held in Sinatra's hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey, the free event kicks off?at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, at?Frank Sinatra?Park, located on Sinatra Drive between 4th & 5th streets.


?


Presented by Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the City of Hoboken, the event will be hosted by Hoboken Cultural Affairs Director Geri Fallo and Gary Simpson, and will feature 15 Sinatra music lovers in a vocal showdown to prove who possesses the most authentic "Sinatra" sound. ?


?


Davis, who is African American has admired the vocal style of Sinatra since curiosity prompted him to purchase a Sinatra CD years ago,?is honored to been chosen to compete in the annual contest.


?


?My aim is to present Sinatra?s great music to today?s generation of all ages,? said Davis.


?


Judges will rate contestants on a scale of one to five with an overall possible score of 25.


?


This year, the line-up of judges will include Bob Foster, director of the Hoboken Historical Museum; Swingadelic Big Band Leader Dave Post; Apple Music Consultant and Curator Will Friedwald, a music writer for the Wall Street Journal and Vanity Fair; Long-time Sinatra fan and trumpet player, Joe DellAquila; and Joyce Flinn, owner of the Elysian Cafe and Schnackenberg's Luncheonette.
