The first global craft beer is the official beer of Disrupt New York?s 2017 Hackathon

Bira 91, the first global craft beer, today announces its sponsorship of TechCrunch Disrupt?s upcoming Hackathon scheduled for May 13 and 14, 2017 at Pier 36.

Hackathon weekend precedes the Disrupt Conference where developers and engineers descend from all over the world to take part in a 24-hour hacking endurance test. When the time comes to reenergize for another round of coding, a cold Bira 91 and some pizza will be there to do the trick.

This is the first time the Hackathon has been sponsored by a beer company.

?We believe Bira 91 brings out the best in people. In this case, it goes a step further: Any coder can tell you that beer holds a special place in the coding workflow. We?re excited to be the beer that powers the intensity of the Hackathon,? said Jain. Jain himself got his start in business as an app developer.

Bira 91 prides itself on its roots in the tech world. A startup that?s innovating how beer can be tracked and delivered TechCrunch?s Hackathon was the perfect fit. The company is also backed by Sequoia, a main partner of Disrupt New York, TechCrunch?s weeklong event preceding the Hackathon. But more importantly, the hacker culture infuses Bira: Young, irreverent, exploring new ideas.

The Hackathon will feature the company?s one-way kegs, cloud-connected dispensers that don?t need to be returned and can signal a distributor when a refill is needed. These mobile kegs will be onsite and used to pump out two varieties, Bira 91 Blonde and Bira 91 White.

Specially brewed and handcrafted, the beer is made with all natural ingredients from across India, and is currently available at select outlets and retailers throughout New York City in both draught and bottles. The brand will also be introducing cans and several new varieties later this year while expanding into New Jersey, Boston and Philadelphia. Bira 91 also recently expanded to Silicon Valley and can be found at Trader Joes throughout California.
