In the new episode of Recovery ReLOVution, the shows host, Dr. Gala Gorman, discusses the Stages of Change Model and gives an overview of the change process. Making a change requires planning and preparation, among other things. Making a change can be scary, but with the right preparation and plan, change can be easy!

In this episode, listeners will:

-Learn to ease the struggle that accompanies change

-Understand what is required to change any habit and make it stick

-Discover the warning signs that flash before a relapse happens

As Gorman explains to listeners, Remember that whatever change we are making needs to align with our values. We need to get to know ourselves to some degree and this could be really challenging for some. But, weve to get to know ourselves and sort through what it is that we want personally." Listeners are encouraged to ask themselves, "What floats my boat? What makes me feel satisfied and fulfilled?" And, then to make a change that is going to make their life better. Gorman says, "If a change is made for someone else there must be some perception that it will make life better for the one doing the changing in order for the change to stick.

Some of the things to watch out for are going back to the old behaviors slipping or relapsing. Most will typically go back to contemplation because they may be able to turn a blinds eye to the problem for a short period of time, but if it was a problem before, then it is probably even more so now. People dont want to get stuck in contemplation. So, Gorman shares some tools to help move someone into the Planning and Preparation Stage.

Typically, when someone relapses, they can take the plan they were using and see where it may have some holes that need to be filled so that its ready to go the next time theyre ready to take action. And, that action has to be in integrity in alignment with personal values. Gorman reminds listeners, "Sometimes not taking action is action."

The Recovery ReLOVution show was created with the aim in mind to help family and friends of addicts restore peace and sanity to their world. Listeners now have an alternative to doing the same thing expecting a different result the definition of insanity.

The show urges listeners to stretch themselves. The shows tagline reflects this. Love the Addict. Outsmart the Addiction. Listeners, primarily Recovery Stakeholders, will likely find a particular interest since its difficult to avoid shaming their addict loved one.

When asked why she created the show, Gorman said, Shaming just adds fuel to addictions fire. There is an alternative.

The shows host, Dr. Gala Gorman, is a holistic life coach and minister. She is the author of the Spiritual ApproachTM Series of books focused on practical spirituality. As an entrepreneur mediator, publisher and, formerly, accounting firm partner, her experiences helped shape the creation of the show. As a change facilitator, she ignites transformation in businesses, families, students, clients and, especially, within herself.

Gorman has hopes that the show will help Recovery Stakeholders learn to set and hold effective boundaries to ignite positive change in themselves and their loved one who is struggling with addiction.
