The fourth Brazilian meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics (IV BRISPE) was hosted by Universidade Federal de Goi?s (UFG) on November 17 and 18, 2016. Over 300 educators, graduate students, publishers, and funders attended the fourth BRISPE with the theme ?Scientific Integrity: The Role of Supervisors, Editors and Financiers?. Introduced in 2010, the BRISPE meeting takes place every 2 years and brings together the brightest and most influential academics in Brazil. Sound science requires research to be conducted ethically and with the utmost integrity. With the emergence of the Open Access movement, detailed and meticulous peer-review has become more important for publishers than ever before. Furthermore, predatory journals are on the rise and the economic recession in Brazil has taken its toll on research grants. The timing of the fourth BRISPE meeting was perfect for Brazilian academia to reaffirm the importance of research integrity and ensure that the quality of the research is not affected by external factors.

To play its part in supporting this initiative of the Brazilian academic community, Bonald C. Figueiredo, MD, PhD (Professor, Universidade Federal do Paran?, Faculdades Pequeno Pr?ncipe, Curitiba, Paran?, Brazil; CNPq researcher; and Editage consultant since 2009), represented Editage Insights and presented a poster and an oral presentation. The poster titled ?How well do authors understand publication ethics? A model for author education on good publication practices?, authored by Kakoli Majumder and Clarinda Cerejo, explains the role that educational resources such as Editage Insights can play in helping authors understand good publication practices. The oral presentation discussed the mission and structure of the Coalition for Responsible Publication Resources (CRPR). CRPR aims to enable effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders to develop resources, strategies, and tools to help authors identify responsible publication resources and practices.

Editage was proud to be represented at the fourth BRISPE meeting and reach out to hundreds of Brazilian academics. This conference participation supplements other Editage Insights activities in Brazil, such as workshops and webinars to educate early-career researchers.
