Taxi Services Welcome AAI’s Decision on Parking Charges Through e-payment

New Delhi Nov 7, 2016 : Taxi service providers in Delhi express happiness as airport allows parking charges through e-payment as they are also going through a cash crunch. BJP government?s decision to ban 500 and 1000 Rs, also known as demonetisation, has many side effects. Various agencies took many steps to check the implications. Airports in India also had not been charging any fee at aerodromes parking in November. But now, airports are putting in place digital payment mechanism so that cash is not required at the parking lot.

Facing huge cash crunch in the wake of demonetisation taxi service providers welcome the step taken by Airport Authority of India.

?This is a very good decision as cash flow in the market reduced due to ban of 500 and 1000 rs notes. In guest service we were facing problems due to this. E-payment is a better option?. Says Jaiveer Tomar, who runs Delhi?s top taxi service provider company, Aone Trips.

The national airports operator to begin the digital payment mechanism from November 29 in the wake of demonetisation of 500 and 1000 currency notes. AAI to put in place digital payment mechanism at its all airports which are operational.

?Now, it is relieving that car parking charges will be accepted through e-payment method using debit cards, Paytm, credit cards and other digital payment systems. We don?t need to give hard cash to our drivers. This is a welcome step by the Airport Authority of India? Added Mr. Tomar ( Aone Trips ).

There are 75 operational airports in country, including six run as joint ventures.

Businessmen and common people have been facing huge cash crunch after the government withdrew Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in November as part of a clampdown against black money.

?We welcome this decision by airports. There are problems but I am supporting demonetisation move as this is necessary for country?s development.? Says Ram Kumar Singh from Mumbai, owner, star taxi services.

Meanwhile, taxi service providers are equipping their drivers with digital payment methods so that they don?t face any issues at airports during car parking.
