A growing number of businesses in Australia and New Zealand are seeking different ways to give back this Christmas as an alternative to the traditional office Christmas party.

Events industry specialist Dwain Richardson said many companies are looking to host events that reward their staff, capture the spirit of Christmas and give to those in need.

Christmas events that support a charity are popular and and unique ways to do this that fully engage employees, according to Richardson, the Managing Director for Corporate Challenge Events in Australia and New Zealand.

?Rather than the typical Christmas drinks at a bar, there are a number of charity team building programs available nowadays that combine fun, frivolity, festivity and also giving.

Richardson said three programs his company offers that will be popular over the end-of-year period will be Fill It, Flat Pack Frenzy and Out Of The Box.

?These are three charity team building programs that will make a difference this Christmas, and we have many more too.

?They have been designed to help business teams support the disadvantaged over Christmas and subsequently have a powerful impact on their own team culture.?

Richardson highlighted statistics that indicate about 14 percent of Australians and more than 30 percent of New Zealand children will be living below the poverty line this Christmas.

?Christmas is traditionally a time of giving and joy. Workplaces reward their staff, families come together, decorations adorn shopping centres, kids play happily, and the list goes on.

?So as a business, we need to ask what we can do to make a difference.?

Richardson discusses Fill It, Flat Pack Frenzy and Out Of The Box as options:

Fill It

?This program involves participants working in teams to fill a trailer, wheel barrow or large containerwith items that are then donated to a charity.

?It features a number of team building activities that will test the resourcefulness, ingenuity and creativity of teams in a race against the clock to gather toys and goods.

?The power in this program comes at the end when the teams witness just how sizeable their contribution is to a charity in need.?

Flat Pack Frenzy

?As the name of this team program suggests, it involves a frenzy to build flat pack furniture.

?The challenge first is for teams to acquire the tools and resources to build the furniture by completing a series of fun activities, before they then try to work in cohesion to build the furniture to specification.

?There is a winning team awarded however the true reward is seeing the smiles on the recipients? faces as the donation of furniture is made.?

Out ofthe Box

?In this newly-created unique team building event, participants are challenged to think ?out of the box? in an effort to build a box of toys.

?Using teamwork, creativity and lateral thinking, the activities in this fast-paced problem solving program can challenge the most innovative of teams.

?The finale tops it off when teams learn what they have assembled will have a significant impact on the recipient.?
