Nominated for Platts Global Energy Awards

Essar Oil Limited has secured a position among the finalists for the prestigious Platts Global Energy Award under the downstream Company of the Year category for 2016, underlining its committed efforts and benchmark initiatives in the industry.

Mr. Lalit Kumar Gupta, managing director and chief executive officer of Essar Oil, is also among the 12 Chief Executive Officers short-listed for the Platts Global Energy Award?s CEO of the Year.

Platts Global Energy has chosen the finalists from over 170 nominations, based on their performance in different category and the criteria within the designated time frame. The judges include independent panel executives including former regulators, past heads of major energy companies, leading academics and international energy experts.

This is the first time Essar Oil has made it to the list under the leadership of Mr. Gupta who has over 35 years of leadership experience in core sector such as steel, energy and oil & gas. Mr Gupta took charge of Essar Oil in December 2011. The company owns the second-largest single location refinery in India with 20 MMTPA capacity and is one of the most complex refinery in the world with 11.8 complexity. Under his leadership, the performance of Essar Oil has seen a phenomenal rise and the refinery is today one of the top GRM earning refining companies in the world. Essar Oil now has the largest private sector fuel retail network in India of over 2500 operational retail outlets and is going up to 5,000 outlets over the next 18 months.
