About Paulo Feteira and Jose David Martinez
The owners of UNION Restaurant and Bar Latino started from humble beginnings in their native countries and have since been living the ?American Dream? by fulfilling their dream of opening a restaurant and giving back to the community. Jose David Martinez and Paulo Feteira were born and raised over 5,000 miles from each other but their love and passion for the art of food brought them together to open the critically acclaimed Latin fused cuisine restaurant, UNION Restaurant, located in the Village of Haverstraw.
Paulo?s modest family migrated from Portugal to Paris, France, where Paulo was born and raised. With Paris known for exquisite cuisine, Paulo naturally developed a major interest in the culinary arts. Co-owner Jose David Martinez was born in Metapan, El Salvador and became responsible for his younger brothers and sisters, after the passing of his mother. David started cooking every day for his family and slowly began experimenting with food. When both Paulo and David immigrated to the United States, they starting working in the restaurant industry and eventually at the same restaurant, and the rest is history!

Giving back to the community - an important part of UNION Restaurant

In 2007, Paulo and David decided to open up UNION Restaurant in the heart of Haverstraw, NY. After the successful opening in 2007, Paulo and Chef Jose David Martinez decided that it was very important to them to be able to give back to the community that gave them the opportunity to live their dream. Thus, the UNION Restaurant ?we care? was established in 2009, with a 3-day event where UNION opened its doors and provided meals to family and people in financial hardship.
For almost the past decade, the owners and staff of UNION has been able to grow the ?we care? with multiple events throughout the year to give back to the community.
