Ex Googlers Launch Multiplayer Carrom Game as their New Game Studio Focuses on Asian Market

Ex Googlers, Rizwan Khan and Jonas Espvall are launching a new app called ?King of Carrom?. The app is a multiplayer version of the popular Indian board game, allowing Carrom fans from all over the world to play each other on Android devices.
King of Carrom will be the first release from their new game studio, Branch Productions, which will solely focus on producing games for the Asian market. The app will be available on the Google Play Store.
Rizwan and Jonas met each other whilst at Wildfire, a social media SAAS start-up that was eventually acquired by Google for an estimated $450M. Inspired by their experience they aimed to create their own business and delved into an area they are both passionate about? gaming.
?We were really compelled by gaming on mobile handsets? said Rizwan Khan, Co-Founder. ?But I think what we really got excited about was the opportunity in Asia. You look at the lists of the top games downloaded in Asian countries and you see many games developed for western audiences. The number of smart phone users is growing at a rapid pace in Asia and we aim to develop an offering that Asian audiences are familiar with but within the successful formats of western titles.?
The first of those games is ?King of Carrom? a title Jonas Espvall is very excited about. ?We didn?t want to just create a Carrom game, we wanted to create the definitive Carrom game and I believe we have accomplished that. User experience was key for us, it?s not just about the gameplay but also about the journey the players takes and being rewarded for the time they have put into the game. We hope the game will find the worlds best carrom player?
