Vedanta Centre opens in Adelaide

A Vedanta Centre has reportedly opened up in Burnside suburb of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia.

Its recent launching celebrations included bhumi-puja, vastu-puja, Ganesha-puja, bhajan-kirtan, Vedic-puja, cultural-program including classical dance-music, discourses and community-meal, reports suggest.

Adelaide area is said to have hosted visiting Swamis of the Ramakrishna Mission since the late 1970s.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended efforts of Centre leaders and area community for realizing this facility.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this new Centre would help in this direction.

Swami Sridharananda is the president of Vedanta Society of Adelaide, Nitin Bhise and Parasivam Kandiah are vice-presidents, and Raman Sharma is secretary.
