For the 2016 model year, Toyota has given the Land Cruiser 200 series（with Android Car Stereo
）a serious makeover with a newly designed front end and the installation of advanced safety features.
The new model became available from Toyota New Zealand authorised dealerships on November 1.
It has a reshaped grille, bumper, headlights and bonnet, and new LED tail light clusters complement these changes.
In the cabin of the VX Limited, a new rear seat entertainment system with dual 11.6-inch monitors, which includes two infrared wireless headphones, allow users to tune into a different audio track or Car DVD
sound from those people sitting up front.
A new Toyota safety sense package features in the Land Cruiser 200 for the first time.
This system includes the pre-crash safety system, pre-crash brake, automatic high beam headlamps, dynamic radar cruise control and lane keep assist. The Land Cruiser 200 also gains a blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert and emergency stop signal.
The engine now produces 200 kilowatts and has an improved overall combined fuel consumption of 9.5 litres/100 km. The addition of a diesel particulate filter has contributed to the Land Cruiser 200 achieving EURO 5 standard for emissions.
The four-wheel drive system has high and low ratios accessed through a rotary dial in the cabin. A Torsen limited slip centre differential feeds power to the front and rear axles with the aid of the six-speed automatic transmission with a sequential manual operation.
The Land Cruiser 200 features CRAWL control, which acts as an ‘off-road cruise control system’ through managing the engine and brakes, maintaining a low and uniform speed and minimises damage to the drive-train and terrain.
This feature combines with hill-start assist control, which stops the Land Cruiser from rolling back unintentionally when starting on a hill, and downhill assist control, which is designed to keep the vehicle at a low and constant speed during steep off-road descent, to deliver maximum stability leaving the driver to concentrate on steering.
All models are also fitted with a multi-terrain select with the automatic mode to alter the 4WD system’s operation to whatever ground the vehicle is being driven upon.
The Land Cruiser 200 sits on newly designed 18” alloy wheels with 285/60R18 tyres and a full-sized spare wheel is standard.
Safety features include ABS brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. There is vehicle stability control; active traction control and trailer sway control. The Land Cruiser 200 has a 3500kg braked tow rating.
The VX grade offers eight seats while the VX Limited offers seven seats.
The Land Cruiser has a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
Both Land Cruiser models – VX and VX Limited – have keyless entry remote control central locking with push button start and retractable exterior rear vision mirrors.
The VX Limited model gains a sunroof, cool box, power-operated front seats with heating and ventilation, driver’s side memory and a tyre pressure warning system. If installing an Android Car Gps
in your car, that would be great!
